City Sprouts Children’s Garden Kick-Off
On Saturday, April 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, children and families of all ages are invited to attend the spring kick-off of the City Sprouts Children’s Garden. Children are invited to plant vegetables, make mosaic stepping-stones, and paint garden markers. While space remains, children may also claim their very own City Sprouts garden plot. The kick-off and all its activities are completely free, and a part of Global Youth Service Day.
The garden kick-off is held in conjunction with the Orchard Hill potluck, a celebration held after the neighborhood Earth Day clean-up. However, both City Sprouts and Orchard Hill welcome families from all over Omaha. Bring your children and neighbors!
City Sprouts is the oldest community garden in Omaha and is located on the west side of 40th Street, just north of Seward St. At its heart, City Sprouts cultivates community through gardening. We promote sustainable local food systems, neighborhood health and strength, and community economic viability. City Sprouts is also a great place to have fun and get dirty.
Please join us for this exciting community event! Please contact Kaitlin Hamilton at khamilton4@mccneb.edu or 402-559-9317 for more information.
