Omaha Sprouts, New and Improved!

You have have noticed some slight changes to the site design, this is because the inner workings of the site have been changed over to Word Press. What does this mean?

I’ll spare the technical details but will say that it should make things easier and better. How?

  • For You Visitors:
    • New content faster!
      • Posts (like this!)
        • Omaha Sprouts will keep you up to date with the latest community news!
      • Pages (To your left)
        • In depth information and history, anything that isn’t time sensitive.
      • Events (To your left and down)
        • Join us for work and fun!
        • Event ‘widget’ to your left displays the next 3 upcoming events.
        • Events link to your left displays a full, navigable calendar.
          • Further links within show off lists of all past and future events!
    • Make yourself heard!
      • You can comment at the bottom of every post and page!
      • Avatars by Gravatar, pictures to accompany your presence on site!
  • For Omaha Sprouts Staff:
    • Easier to Add Content
      • Events, Pages, and Post editing all built in!
      • What You See Is What You Get with the new visual text editor!
      • HTML editor for the computer pros.
      • Uploading pictures and videos is easy with automatic thumbnail generation.
    • New User System
      • 5 classes of members, each with a predefined amount of access.
      • Secure but not overbearing!

The site should fully work at this point, but I’ll be around as an on/off tech guy.

    Not sure if possible actually. At current, events will display until the stop being relevant (the end-date of the event itself). After that point, they show up in past events.

    Anyway, once I get off work, I’ll redirect main to here. (This way, the old site can be used as a backup in case of emergency)
