growing gardeners workshops
The Growing Gardeners Workshop Series is a collaboration between City Sprouts and The Big Garden. We work together to offer four seasons of hands-on workshops that feature skills and techniques for every gardener and urban farmer: growing, cooking, preserving and eating healthy local food. All workshops are free and open to all ages.
Our workshops are broken up into three main tracks: Urban Ag School, Herbal Medicine Cabinet, and Culinary Workshops. We also have smaller workshops attached to various community events that we have throughout the year. Check out all of our workshop offerings on our Growing Gardeners website.
We love having guest teachers from our community lead workshops! Are you knowledgable about a subject that you'd like to share in a workshop? Reach out to our Education Manager and explain what skills you'd like to share.

Celebrate With Us
Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and the Delta variant, the decision has been made to move our fundraiser to a virtual event. Though a difficult decision, we believe it is in the best interest of public safety.
Our virtual fundraiser will still be filled with loads of silliness, fun, and local farm fresh goodies. From Monday, September 6 through Friday, September 10, City Sprouts will be hosting a variety of online activities and videos, pushing for donations that make a BIG splash.
Tickets are now being sold as care packages filled with local produce, topical salves, and more. That's right - tickets just became a whooole lot more delicious, with the most bang for your buck. See full details below.
This year, all fundraiser proceeds will go toward building new raised garden beds at City Sprouts’ North and South gardens. Raised beds have never been replaced at City Sprouts North and, after 15+ years, we think it’s about time.
We hope you will join us on our virtual journey beginning 9/6. Stay tuned for more updates!
If you have any questions regarding the virtual fundraiser, don’t hesitate to reach out to Emily Ramelb (emily@omahasprouts.org).

Raise the Beds
Raising Up the Community, one Bed at a Time
City Sprouts, Inc. was founded in 1995 with the original intentions to: (1) convert inner-city vacant lots into beautiful, productive, and safe garden environments, and (2) in collaboration with educational organizations, institutions or governmental entities, and charitable organizations, provide educational programs.
This movement of building communities through gardening evolved to the purchase of the North Education Center
(4002 Seward Street) in the 2000s, a movement towards a staff-driven organization, and an expansion into South Omaha (1815 N Street) around 2015.
This year, fundraiser proceeds will support the building of new raised garden beds at City Sprouts' North and South community gardens, as well as some other much needed improvements.
City Sprouts is one of Omaha's oldest community gardens, and we are so grateful for the generous support needed to provide the community with free and low-cost resources, safe spaces, and educational opportunities. Help us "Raise the Beds" by donating what you are able.
